Past project: A pleasant dream

Today I dug up a drawing from the past for you guys. I made this drawing more than 6 years ago in my final year of high school. There were a number of assignments you could choose from, one being titled ‘a pleasant dream’. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that I felt an immediate attraction to the subject. To challenge myself, I incorporated some difficult subjects and textures. It wasn’t just a final drawing, but also indirectly a case study on how to draw water, hands, bubbles and fluffy textures.

The drawing slowly turned into a big happy place full of flying cupcakes, chicks with sunglasses, rainbow chameleons, pink elephants and in the midst of this crazy world me as a tiny fairy. The drawing is still dear to me: it hangs in my room above my desk. It was the first piece of art in which I captured part of my colorful and happy dream world.

If you could create your own dream world, what would be in it?

  1. This is lovely and it speaks of what you would do in the future. That is so cool. My dream world would have the ocean, a big blue sky filled with puffy clouds, and lots of bubbles and sunlight.

  3. Yes! That sounds amazing. I have been pondering about making a second version of this one. Because there is still so much I can think of to put in there!
