Street stain creature

Do you look at clouds and project your fantasy upon them, making them into big white fluffy elephants, ships and ukuleles? I certainly do. But I do not wish to talk about clouds today. In stead, let’s talk stains. Because I do the same with stains. Sometimes I transform coffee stains into small doodles and the action forces me to be creative.

Well, somewhere in my city there is a GIANT white paint stain on the sidewalk. I think a bucket of paint must have fallen over or something months ago. Every time when I bike by I feel the urge to make it into a giant doodle. To make something that nobody cares about into a piece of art.

Yesterday the weather was great and I remembered the stain. So I called up a friend (who also paints with me in the Big Bug Collection) and we spent out afternoon in the sun painting.

  2. This is absolutely gorgeous! Reminds me of the artist that paints on chewing gun that has been trodden into the pavement.

    1. Yes lots of people passed by as we were painting. Most just walked by, but a few said something or stopped. We only got positive reactions though. From little boys saying it was awesome to adult men coming back to have a second look and a student offering us beer on his way back haha.

  5. That looks fantastic! I hope it's permanent paint, because it just perks up that spill so much. I love how you used the shape to make the design-- definitely the tactile version of cloud shapes!

    1. Actually I am not sure if it will stay or not. The paint is normal acrylic paint we used, nothing really meant for the street. So we'll see :) We already said that if it does fade away we can just make a new drawing over it :D
