Creative challenge: Art inspired by movie or book

I set myself creative challenges and you are welcome to join any week if you like. You can take on just one or multiple, do it now or over a month. Anything that fits your pace and preferences :) This week:

Creative challenge: Create a piece of art that is inspired by a movie you’ve seen or a book you’ve read.

It can be your favorite movie of all time, or simply a book you recently finished. Whatever inspires you. It can be a feeling you want to translate, a certain style, a concrete small piece of a story that triggers you or the overall theme. The art you create can be anything from poetry to a song to a drawing or painting. It can be a medium you are comfortable with or a new experiment in a medium you never tried before. I will probably be painting, since that’s what I love to do.

What movies and books inspire you?

  1. That is such a great idea! I'll have to think about what to make...I just watched Super 8 yesterday night & I'm so inspired to make an 8mm home movie!

    1. I haven't seen that one yet, but making a home movie sounds like so much fun! I would love to hear if you decide to make it!

  2. I don't really get inspired by films (or at least I can't think of films at the moment that have inspired me!) the Perks of Being a Wallflower inspired me though. xo

    1. Perhaps I should see it as well then. I don't get inspired by all movies, but some do :)

  5. I love this challenge idea! Requiem For A Dream was such a powerful movie in my perception along with Brokeback Mountain and Sister My Sister. I think if I was inspired by any films it would be those three.

    1. Why those? I'm always interested in why people like certain things. Would you recommend them?

    2. Requiem For A Dream shook me to my very core, as cliche as that is haha. I remember finishing it and just staring at the screen of my computer for a minute afterward, awestruck and amazed. The imagery was so interesting, especially when showing drug use and how it affected the characters. I've always been attracted to tragedy and that movie definitely contains a lot of it. BBM I would recommend to anyone. It's a traditional love story that defies tradition as contradictory as that sounds. I feel like anyone with an open understanding of "taboo" love will find themselves rooting for the characters. Sister My Sister I would only recommend to those with very open minds as it contains murder and a homosexual relationship between two sisters, but it's become a favorite of mine.

  8. Amelie is such an inspiring film, I just want to live in it!

At the moment I seem to be drawn towards anything to do with the 1920s and '30s, and India, but I'm currently reading 'War and Peace,' so it will be a while before I can pick up any new books!
