I start off my weekly creative challenge, with the following:
The challenge: Make an illustration for each day of the week of something that happened that day, that stood out, that says something about your day.
I have kept such a journal for a while, but never seem to find enough time for it or follow through. My first entry dates back from April 26th in 2007 and the last one August 27th in 2011, totally covering 34 illustrated days over a period of more than 4 years. I love to do it though and flip through past drawings and memories. It should be a fun challenge to do this for a week and take some time each day to creatively capture my day.
An example page from my journal. On the left: drinking tea with Anne, who was back from Japan & party where 3D glasses were the ticket and the walls were filled with 3D posters. On the right: painting my hair red.
Awesome idea. I'd gladly participate in such challenge, had I any time or even skills to draw....
ReplyDeleteI love this such a good idea! Thanks for the comment (:

That is WONDERFUL! Oh, how I wish I could draw. That really must be so much fun to flip through. I should really start journaling again. Thanks for the creative inspiration:)
ReplyDelete@ Elina: It's not about the skills! It's about the fun. I have some ugly pages in my journal.. My challenge is more about the process; part of that challenge is time :)
ReplyDelete@ Kate: Thanks!
@ Much to My Delight: Yes it is :) Somehow memories can seem more valuable when you give some attention to capturing them (in a nice way). You're welcome!
this is wonderful. i want to have a creative challenge as well! :-)

@ A Splash of Ida: you are welcome to join if you would like to! You could just do one challenge you like, or do a couple of days.. It's not so much about the exact challenge or time span (although it should help me), but more about.. to get into action mode and be creative :)
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of like National Novel Writing Month (www.nanowrimo.org), which is all about dumping out 50,000 words in the month of November with absolutely no editing and ignoring the inner critic. It's very cathartic! :)
