I am a master of science!

I graduated. Since yesterday it’s official. I finished my study at Industrial Design, which means you can call me master of science now. But Mariëlle will also still do and is probably less awkward.

The video above is a concept video featuring the working prototype of my fountain design. I shared earlier videos of my final master project here and here. The design consists of a tunnel of water beams that magically open up the way for you when you pass through. I am quite happy with the result; I think it a good translation of my vision as a designer in that it is playful and brings a small moment of wonder and childish amazement into the everyday.

I have been looking forward to this moment, but now that it is here it feels somewhat surreal. It doesn’t make any sense. I have all the time in the world to make and do all the things that I have been wanting to do for the last couple of weeks. But somehow I just don’t feel like it. Yet. It feels like the sun should be shining and I should be happily crafting all day, daydreaming about my future. But in fact it is pouring rain, it is dark outside and I am very slowly taking everything in. I guess I just need some time to unwind and let everything sink in.

Next week this time I will be in Paris. Perhaps that will help me realize that it’s really finished :)

btw, I know a nice little fondue restaurant near the Sacre Coeur, if you're interested! Not too expensive and with a really cool atmosphere!
