Drooling roller-skater street art

Ever since I painted a stain on the street for the first time, I have been seeing stains everywhere throughout my city. Yesterday was a soft and sunny day, perfect for making the sidewalk pop with color. So I went out with Eliska (from Big Bug Collection), who seems to be becoming my stain paint partner in crime. This is our third in a row already (one, two).

The main challenge is to come up with something in the shape of the existing stain, and make use of the outlines as good as possible. That is also the fun part. We established that it would be a guy on skates pretty quickly, but then as we went we just kept adding stuff: “What shall we do with this line by his mouth?” “I know! We make him drool, green slimy ugly drool” “Yes! That’s perfect” Then a bit later, the guy is almost finished: ( sudden giggle followed by a big smile) “We should totally give him pink underwear!” “Yeah! With polka-dots!” (believe it or not, I am innocent in the polka-dot suggestion). And so forth. It is so much fun.

I also love seeing the reaction of people. From grumpy bus drivers telling us to be careful, to paparazzi kids (what’s with children and smart phones these days?) and even a guy on skates who stopped, said nothing (not even in reply to my greeting), put two ice creams for us on the ground, and went on again without saying another word except for ‘thank you’.

Painted stain count: 3. I think we just started a collection.

    1. Thank you! It really was a teamwork. I love how every time when we work together it benefits our art: I really think we make more original stuff together, because you need to blend styles and get the best of both!
