Last week I made some t-shirt designs and silkscreen printed them. We were asked as the
Big Bug Collection to make some designs for the ‘common room’; the international student association of my university. They wanted something generic that communicated something along the lines of togetherness, helping each other, being strong together and having a home away from home. Below are two of my sketches of the designs (the first one was the one they selected).
Jeroen, with whom I worked together for this assignment, acting as if he is doing something interesting.
After printing both the front and back of the t-shirts, we connected the lines, so the two designs became a continuous one.
Have you ever silkscreen printed?
Wow they look really good! The design with the hands on is my favourite :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you :) There were some other designs as well made by Jeroen, but I didn't include them in this post
DeleteSo cool! Where did you get all your supplies? I've silk screened before, but it took me so long to just make a screen! It looks like you're using a big studio, whereas I was just doing it in my bedroom!
ReplyDeleteThere is a local atelier where artists and students can hire materials quite cheap and use all the equipment. It is pretty cool! But indeed, it did take a lot of time. It is quite a lot of work, but I am happy with how it all turned out :) I wonder how it's like to do it in your bedroom! Sounds fun as well :)
DeleteI love the hands print! Unity coming together!
ReplyDeleteThis is really awesome! I love that flyer! I used to hang out with the international students at my old university and I really need to try to connect with them here at my new one! This post reminded me of that! Good job on the artwork : )

Sounds like good times! I always feel at home between international students. I think it has something to do with living abroad and feeling at home in a variety of cultures. And thank you :)
