Valentine cards

Somewhere between waking up still foggy minded and going to my university, I decided to quickly wrap up some valentine’s cards from old cereal boxes (you might notice the re-occuring cereal boxes theme in my last minute craft efforts), post-its and plain paper. After all, Valentine ’s Day is only once a year so it would be a waste to let it pass by without showing some love. I decided to make a few cards and spread them around town. They read: ‘For the lucky finder: I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day!.’

As I was biking back home in the rain through the dark from dinner at a friend’s, I remembered the cards I left this morning and decided to check if they all had been taken away. The last one I left, was on a spot where I wasn’t sure if it would be in eye-sight, plus it wasn’t a place shielded from the rain that well. As I approached I was disappointed by the sight of a soaked little envelope still hanging on the same place. So I decided to take it off. But as I was about to put it in my pocket I realized the writing was different and the envelope read ‘to the other lucky finder’. Somebody had put a different envelope on the same place! Since it was still raining I biked to my home in high speed, excited like a little kid about my new found treasure. Finally home I opened the envelope. Inside was a card saying ‘I don’t know you either, but happy valentine to you too!’ Best. Moment. Of. My. Day. :)

It’s funny how a random exchange with a total stranger can fill you with that much joy.

    1. Thank you! Often the problem is not so much in the idea but in the excecution, I think everybody has great ideas, but we often keep them like that. just ideas (like there was this moment in the morning where I thought 'nehhh, I am tired and I don't have proper paper'etc), only in the action ideas become visable.

    1. I know right?! I couldn't believe it myself either. Normally I wouldn't have any idea of where my cards ended up, and somehow this way I feel somewhat reassured that this person might have appreciated the gesture enough to write back :)

  6. that is so neat! i had a similar experience yesterday. someone called me on my phone, i didn't reconize the number, but i answered anyways. the lady of course wasn't looking for me but for someone else so i told her it was okay after she apologized for dialing the wrong number. i also told her i hoped she had a great valentine's day. you would have thought i had given her a hundred dollars! the surprise and delight was so evident in her voice. it made me happy and i'm pretty sure it did her too :)

i'm a new follower! i hope it makes your day, just as it would make mine if we became blog friends :)
